Body weight

What is body weight?

It is the gravitational force exerted on a human body at or near the Earth’s surface:

  1. Body weight is the product of body mass (in kilograms) and acceleration due to gravity (9.81 ms2) measured in newtons (N).
  2. Body weight appears ONLY when support is present (on support). Without support there is no body weight.
