Body Mass

mass

/mas/

noun

Mass is simply defined as the amount of matter contained in an object.

In anthropometry, when scientific measurements of the human body are made, the mass of the human body is measured to the nearest tenth of a kilogram when the subject is nude, or dressed with clothing of known mass so that correction to nude mass can be made.

Body mass is commonly referred to as body weight and vice versa, but these terms are not interchangeable as they do not mean the same thing.
